Frequently Asked Questions

About Weboteeq and Online Marketing

How much does web design cost?

That really depends – it’s like asking how long is a string? Read more of the FAQ to find a bit more detail, based on the context of the question.

It can cost anywhere between R0 and R50 million once-off, with monthly charges ranging from R0 to R15,000 or more. It depends what you want the website to do, what quality it should be, what platform it is based on, how much content it should contain, what traffic you expect, if you are willing to do some of the work yourself (like blogging, or adding products), and who you want to design it.

Read more of the FAQ to find a basic break-down of the pricing structure Weboteeq uses when we quote for designs.

A single page website can be a useful starting point for a business just looking for an online presence. The one page can have different sections (headings) that can be linked to via menu links (just like a multi-page website).

Different designers charge different rates for such a website. It also depends what type of traffic you expect.

For a general small to medium business needs, our standard one-pager design packages starts at R1000, although we recommend the R2000 package that includes hosting, SSL, email addresses and maintenance fees. See pricing below.

A basic information website is great option for businesses who want a professional, comprehensive yet neat and clean presentation of their services, specialities and products. It is also great for public personalities and personal brands who want to reach a larger audience, for example through a blog or affiliate marketing. A well-designed informational website structure allows it to easily be expanded into more monetisation options, for example online shopping, online courses, or online service bookings.

So again, the price depends who you ask, what you want to do with it, and how much traffic you are expecting.

For general small to medium business or personal brands, our standard informational website design packages starts at R2500 once-off, including hosting and maintenance for 1 year (to be renewed thereafter).

Now this really, really depends on the features and traffic you expect. To build the next Amazon, with the same size, performance and scalability – bluntly, it would cost a fortune the size of the Amazon (forest, yo!) But most business owners don’t need the same specs as Amazon.

It also very much depends how much work you are willing to put in yourself, how many products you have and what integrations for other automated functionality you require. Generally, you can expect to pay between R3500 and R15000 for small to medium business needs.

You can also easily do it yourself on platforms like Shopify or Wix. This is a cheap way to get started, but the monthly hosting and commission fees very quickly add up as your store grows, not to mention the time and effort required to keep managing everything yourself. Especially when the store gains momentum, it would be cheaper and more time-efficient to rather look at other platforms (where you actually own your own data!) and get someone to help out with the technology, while you carry on with your day-to-day business.

Unlike Shopify or Wix or other DIY store front builder SAAS platforms, our pricing is structured with the largest payment upfront, and small ongoing monthly hosting and management fees. Why? Because our effort is spent upfront to build your store… once this is done and paid for, we don’t believe in over-charging you on a monthly basis. We do realise that for some the upfront investment can be a lot, so we are flexible to negotiate splitting the upfront costs over a few months. Chat to us to see if you qualify for split payments.

For most small to medium business needs, our standard online shop design packages start at R4500 once-off, that includes hosting and maintenance for 1 year (to be renewed thereafter).

Note this assumes that you are providing the content (copywriting, logos, branding, graphics, product photos, product descriptions and data, videos, etc). What is required before a website can be built?

Logo – you can provide an exising logo, or we can make a basic logo for you for R500

Minimum branding kit – you can provide it, or we can provide it for R200

The creative brief – download it here, complete it with as much information as possible and return it to us

For online stores, we also need a list of products and associated data – download the product data form here, complete it with as much detail as possible, and return it to us

Your photo’s / videos / images and other content to be used on the website – alternatively we can source stock material for you at an extra fee

We need to sign of the creative brief. This defines the scope of work and helps both of us know where the goal post is, so we stay on track.

We also need to sign of the terms of service and non-disclosure agreements. This means we protect each other’s industry secrets, and we agree on the services and payment terms.

How much do add-on features to a WordPress website cost?

If your website is based on the WordPress platform, we can easily extend the functionality and features, by integrating and configuring the necessary built-in capabilities, custom coding (PHP, CSS, HTML), and by using plugins.

The price depends on what features you’re looking to introduce. Find a ballpark cost break down below. These costs are all once-off, unless explicitly indicated otherwise.

We do Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel integration for WordPress, the associated cookie and privacy policy updates, and provide monthly reports on website traffic for 1 year, at a once-off cost of R900.

Digital gift vouchers with automated coupon codes (as a product type) can be added for R750.

Gift registry (e.g. for weddings, baby showers, etc.) can be added for R500.

Wish list / saved favourites list can be added for R500.

Product search / filter side bar (either pop-out or pinned / fixed in place) can be added for R1500.

Distinguish products by brand, with clickable brand filter and short brand descriptions for a cost of R500.

Visual comparison pricing tables are priced at R250 per column (it’s recommended to use 3 columns, to leverage consumer behaviour science – most people buy the option presented in the middle).

On-board, manage and track affiliates / influencer commissions with detailed reports from website for a cost of R2000.

Social media news feeds can be embedded for R1000 per social media platform – note this impacts speed / performance because it has to load large image data from external sources to the website.

Additional payment gateway integrations (e.g. Yoco, Peach Payments) cost R350 per gateway.

This depends, but we recommend you set this facility up with your payment gateway provider (e.g. PayFast, Peach, etc.) – it will likely work out the cheapest for you. This cost is outside our control, but it generally does not work out more expensive than their normal rates.

Composite products / product bundles facility (user can increase / decrease quantity of individual products in the bundle) is charged at R1500 facility setup fee, R200 per bundle configuration.

E-commerce email customisations (e.g. add logo to emails, change text for each type of email, change colour scheme to match brand colours, etc.) cost R500.

Courier aggregate integration (get fastest and cheapest quotes from different couriers automatically based on order weight and size, optionally get discounted rates for a monthly fee) at R500 once-off for normal courier rates, discounted rates start at R99 / month.

Pargo shipment integration and assistance to get set up with Pargo (Pargo couriers collect at your premises, and customers collect at more than 3000 pick-up points including Clicks, Caltax and selected independent outlets), charged at R500.

Different shipping charges per zone or city or per delivery method cost R500.

Automated product review reminder emails, allowing user image uploads for reviews, cost R750.

Cart abandonment retrieval (automated emails reminding customers to complete checkout, in case they got busy and forgot, offer discounts to motivate hesitant buyers, etc.) – R750

Advanced AI chatbot integration with customisation, CRM integration and reporting cost R2500. Note it is worth spending a few hours each month training the AI to get better, especially if you get a lot of customer queries. Also note this chatbot does not have Whatsapp support out of the box, the Whatsapp add-on will cost R15,000 per year. It can work fine without Whatsapp integration, living only on the website, or can be combined with Telegram without extra costs. There are cheaper alternatives, but the alternatives’ AI is not as good.

Newsletter integration (pop-up or static form asking for email address, with cookie-based dismiss options, sending form contents to Mailchimp or other newsletter management tool of your choice) can be added for R500.

A sales funnel facility that supports on-brand landing pages, upsells, downsells, order bumps, lead generation, CRM integration, A/B split testing, analytics and reporting, is charged as follows:

  • R1500 once-off facility setup
  • R350 per landing page setup (conversion optimised)
  • R1000 for professional sales funnel strategy session with digital marketing agent.

That’s it. We do not charge monthly fees, commissions and all sorts of nonsense to eat away at your profits. We simply get paid to help you set up your profit channel.

You have different options on how we can integrate the sales funnels’ data with a CRM (customer relationship management) system.

You can choose to combine this facility with a third party CRM that charges monthly fees, or not. We can manage a professional CRM system on your behalf (see more on the digital advertising section). We can add CRM capability to the website backend for R200 / m. You can also forego the CRM, and just send all leads data to your email account at no extra cost.

We can add CRM capability to the website backend for R200 / m.

How much does content creation for a website cost?

No problem, we can add more pages at R200 per page (if you provide the contents). If we should also create content for the page, prices start at R700 (i.e. R200 + R500), depending on what you want to get done.

No problem, we can add more products at R50 per product (if you provide the product data such as description, images, etc.). If we should create the product data, add R150 for product description, and add R45 per product photo (includes background removal).

As with everything, it depends. Largely on the subject matter, and how much content is required for the page. Generally as ballpark, we work on R500 per page.

That includes keyword research and search engine optimisation with wording. It includes sources stock images. It excludes infographics, taking new photos and videos, and other advanced elements that improve reader engagement and search engine rankings.

It does not apply to “complicated” fields such as medicine, legal, scientific and engineering matters, that require extra time, effort and expertise to ensure accuracy and thus require a custom quote based on complexity.

Again, it depends. Mostly on subject matter, how long the post should be, and what supportive materials are required (stock video or images, custom videos or images, infographics, etc.) Generally we work on R750 for a 1500 word blog post, that includes keyword research and search engine optimisation and stock images.

Depends what type of products and how much detail and accuracy is required. For example, copy writing for a high-end video camera, where camera specs compared to competitors play a large role in the pricing strategy and buyer decision making, but requires much research into the field, will be more expensive than a description for a plastic toy car.

Generally we work on a ballpark of R150 per product, but it can wildly differ as pointed out above, so best to get a custom quote.

If you send us your products at own cost (to Johannesburg or Pretoria, depending which of our team works on your request), we can do product photography with background removal at R45 per photo. We can also do lifestyle product photography at R350 per photo.

We do accept photography and video recording call-outs in Gauteng, at R350 / h, with travelling costs calculated at AA rates. Enquire for more details.

We can use your existing video footage, use stock footage, or create custom animations and footage with computer aided design tools. Either way, we work at R350 / h.

What if I want to create and add on my own website content?

Sure you can! On request we’ll provide back-end access details to you, so you can go wild in creating and editing blog posts and products, and editing the wording on pages. We will do this in such a way that you do not break the main site functionality, but that you can create all the content you want.

We can also give you full access to create, move and delete pages, menus, etc., but then we do not accept responsibility if the site functionality breaks.

Sure we can! We can give you a short training session for R1000 how to create and edit blog posts and products. We can also handle support requests at R350 / h.

How much do branding kits cost?

At the very least, we recommend you have the following branding materials available, for ensuring a consistent look and feel across your website:

  • Audience definition – this is often overlooked, but is extremely important because it underlies almost all other decisions of website design
  • Logo to place in header and / or footer – this should scale well at different resolutions and sizes for mobile and desktop use
  • Favicon (small logo icon in your browser’s tab view)
  • Colour palette – this should match the brand colours used elsewhere with your business, or if starting from scratch, colour psychology should be used to target the audience and match the style
  • Typography guide (font family, font sizes and styles for different types of elements) – it should match your brand’s personality and tone of voice, be readable on mobile and desktop, and if different fonts are used together, they should look good together
  • Style guide – the tone of voice of your content that will best suit your audience and brand personality (e.g. friendly, playful, bold, professional, authoritative, exaggerated, goofy, girly, modern, etc.) – this impacts visual design elements as well as choice of wording

We do basic logo design’s for R500 each, this includes an upfront design brief and 2 revisions. This is a great option to get started.

For more tailored and high-end logo’s, we work at R350 / h. This includes a proper design process, with a detailed design brief, prototyping, option presentations, refining, etc. with as many revisions as are needed to arrive at the best and highest impact logo we can deliver. This is more suited to medium-high value brands who are looking for a refined statement logo.

The rest of the branding essentials (logo excluded) can be provided at R200, based on the creative brief that forms part of the web design package. It includes an audience definition, favicon (based on existing logo), colour palette, typography and style guide.

Weboteeq charges R1200 for a full digital branding kit. It includes the following synergistic elements:

  • Audience definition (as identified in the creative brief)
  • Basic logo
  • Favicon
  • Colour palette
  • Typography
  • Style guide
  • Social media banners and profile pictures
  • Email signatures
  • Business card
  • QR codes to website and social media
